Through the work of Daniel Foor, a kick-ass animist, I am beginning to discover that even though as you say I have never encountered a truly healthy (virgin) forest, there is something deeply comforting about opening up to my kinship with non-humans. She (Nature) is many, many things, but I am discovering what it means that she truly is my Mother.
