This is a really great breakdown of privilege. My husband is also on the autism spectrum. While he experienced horrible bullying as a child & teenager because of it, so many doors were open to him that wouldn’t have been if he weren’t white & his father in banking, including an Ivy League education. His ability to ‘pass’ as neurotypical is largely attributable to that.
I really appreciate your perspective, and I’d love to hear more about your own experience with ‘passing.’
