It depends on what surrender means to you. Leaving my abuser, going into an unknown and scary future instead of staying in the familiarity of our toxic relationship, was an act of surrender. Decades later, dealing yet again with the fallout of that and other trauma, meditation became a path of surrender as I leaned to stay with feelings in my body that warned of false, long-ago danger. Surrender to the reality of the moment has become incredibly freeing. Letting go of overthinking as an attempt to bend reality my way means surrender of the false promise that my cognitive capacity is the ultimate arbiter of reality. What a relief!!
