I appreciate how you unravel the complexity of human beings, even Protestant “saints.” The purity mandate may be freeing to some, but in practice it’s so often a source of torment, that for those who struggle deeply to live it, the love of Christ turns out to be not “vast, unmeasured, boundless, free,” but only what can be scraped out of the tiny crevice that remains after negating, negating, negating one’s humanity — and that of others. “Love one another” simply gets lost.
