Great read! I went from liberal Quaker to Evangelical Christian (30 years!) The need to experience the silence of Quaker meeting again returned as I began writing seriously — waiting, in silence, for something. The Word. A word. A sentence. Now I meditate, and I recognize concepts like Light vs. Dark, Good vs. Evil, as “stories” we tell ourselves to make sense of the world. This is not an excuse for violence or hatred. Walking byinstinct, it is literally impossible for me (I’ve tried) not to believe in Spirit. Suffering is real, harm is real, healing and goodness are real. My trust in …What? — is strong despite much personal suffering and the suffering in the world. “Love” says it all. And as long as I’m in the world, I’ll choose the courage of healing, and to be a healer.
