Emergent Strategy by Adrienne Maree Brown is one book that offers a model for radical social change modeled on the principles of natural-world cooperation and indiginous practices designed to de-cennralize leadership in favor of a heart-centered and healing approach to systemic, interrelated social problems. Social change agents, no longer acting in silos, have tremendous power to re-evision and recreate equitable, just solutions to problems that have been hampered or exacerbated by top-down leadership.
The Home for Good Coalition, founded on the same principles, seeks to create a just, equitable world prediicated on similarly nature-based principles. Our guiding principle is “What would a world that reflects our love for our children look like?”
Collective Power, Home for Good’s publication, soon to be launched on Medium, will feature the voices of those who have been traumatized by, yet overcome the damaging results of interaction with systems that purport to help the most vulnerable-poor people and people of color-(criminal justice, foster care, mental health, education, etc.), systems that in fact perpetuate injustice and inequity in favor of their own financial gain and power.
